Quarter 3 Showcase
Garamond, Adobe Illustrator, 2/26/2024
Typefaces and fonts are often used interchangably in the non-typography world -- although the word "font" is far more common. However, these two are completely different; typefaces, such as Roboto or Helvetica, are much more broad types of writting, while fonts, like Roboto Thin or Helvetica Oblique, are more specific. One of my favorite typefaces -- Garamond -- comes in only three kinds of fonts in Adobe Illustrator: standard, bold, and italic.

PIZZA, Adobe Illustrator, 2/21/2024
Why have just a slice when you could have the entire pie? ...Which is why I also made an entire pizza pie in addition to the one slice needed. Using the blob tool to create imperfect, more natural-looking circles, which I then colored and added toppings on top. Three of the five kinds of toppings were required: pepperoni, pepper, and olives, with two added ones: pineapple and mushrooms.

Book Icons, Adobe Illustrator, 3/4/2024
Creating four icons that represented parts of a (paper) book, with the one I chose being The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielson -- with more infomation about the plot and the icons themselves found in the blog. All four icons were limited to only two colors, which I picked (fairly suitingly) as a stone-like gray and golden yellow.

Cheeseburger In Paradise, Adobe Illustrator, 3/20/2024
ORDER UP! Mmm...tasty burgers, so delicious and so delightful...yet so unhealthy. And we've recreated that great greasy goodness in Adobe Illustrator using the mesh tool and other techniques to give them more depth and thus a bit more realism and shine.
A new technique used on the beef patty -- and later fries, as seen on the menu -- was using the pen tool to create a few blob shapes, which then had their opacity set low and placed on top of the patty. Simply placing a bunch of barely visible blobs on top of the shape was enough to give it a bit more texture -- which you can't even see on the covered-up patty, but at least it makes the fries look great! |

Tanky Textures, 3Ds Max, Adobe Photoshop, 2/7/2024

THE TANK RETURNS! In Quarter 1, one of our basic 3D modeling assignments was to create a tank model, and now it makes its glorious return nearly half a year later, now with actual textures! Or...not. After opening up my original Q1 tank model, I realized my 3D modeling skills back then were...lacking, to say the least. So, I just decided to make a new one from scratch, which isn't nearly as hard or time-consuming as it once was.
