5/10/2024 - Personal Video Project
Most people have pets. Some have dogs, some have cats, and some even have chickens or bunnies or whatever other animal they find adorable. What do we have? FISH! A LOT of fish! And what does that mean? Plenty of (free) actors and actresses, plenty of footage (collected over the years), and plenty to work with...

3/20/2024 - Cheeseburger In Paradise
ORDER UP! Mmm...tasty burgers, so delicious and so delightful...yet so unhealthy. And we've recreated that great greasy goodness in Adobe Illustrator using the mesh tool and other techniques to give them more depth and thus a bit more realism and shine.
A new technique used on the beef patty -- and later fries, as seen on the menu -- was using the pen tool to create a few blob shapes, which then had their opacity set low and placed on top of the patty. Simply placing a bunch of barely visible blobs on top of the shape was enough to give it a bit more texture -- which you can't even see on the covered-up patty, but at least it makes the fries look great!

Using the pen tool, I was able to quickly make a few ingredients, like the fluffy buns, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and beef patty. Then, using the mesh tool I could add different colors to added a bit of shine and shadow coloring, giving it a bit more perception and realism.
Next, we started using the gradient tool. The gradient tool, which you can also see on the menu's background, is also very customizable, allowing you to control not only the colors of the gradient, but also the weight of each color, where it starts blending, and how many colors you want to add. |
As you may be able to tell from the menu title/logo, the burger joint is heavily inspired by one of my favorite burger chains: In & Out (Still so sad they're only on the West coast). Using the mesh tool, I was able to create a (pretty cool, if I dare say so myself) kind of gradient from a darkish-orangish hue to a bright electric yellow.

1/25/2024 - Design Matrix Challenge
This one assignment took me probably the longest to just complete -- 6 weeks, nearly a month and a half -- simply because I had no idea how to proceed or even do any of these, which is why pretty much all of them ended up as some kind of abstract art form. And since I spent so long on it, you can actually how my familiarity and skill with Photoshop improved through the weeks I spent working on this in between other assignments.
1/18/2024 - Animated Four Corners
From the very same layout from the previous Four Corners assignment, but this time with an added car and road! (Car and road assets provided from the instructors) Using the Animation Constraints tool, I was able to create a procedurally generated animation, which essentially means that the software itself animated the car based on the road without me having to manually input all the animation keys.

Four Corners Scene (12/4/2023)
The Four Corners scene, created from only privative objects, such as rectangles, cones, pyramids, geospheres, and more to form a simple scene. Using simple transformations and rotations to precisely move objects to specific coordinates to fit the scene, with four corners of varying places.
PBM - Masking
On Photoshop, first a mask is created around the Bike and its riders, which is then manually edited using the Brush tool in QuickMask mode so that all of the orange background is removed, leaving just the Bike and the background. The Mask tool essentially hides part of a image without deleting it, so I can go back and later add or change sections of the image.

PBM - Basic Modeling (9/22/2023)
This project is to learn and use new modifers and techniques such as loft, lathe, and line tracing to create four models: a nut and bolt, a chess piece, a wine glass, and a screwdriver.
The Nuts and Bolts
First, by using the twist modifier, I was able to turn a regular cylinder into a corkscrew, which was then attached to another cylinder modified into a hexagon to form a bolt. Then, using boolean compounds, the corkscrew shape of the bolt was used to create the same pattern on the inside of another hexagon, creating the nut. |
The Goblet
Although the task was to use the lathe tool to create a wine glass, I took it a step further to transform the glass into a medival, magical goblet, with a golden glow emiting from the inside. Initially, the Goblet was actually a simple 2D line which used the lathe tool to essencially copy and paste the line onto a 360-degree rotation around itself, turning it from 2D to 3D. |
The Screwdriver
Both one of the most complex yet simple models in this project, the Screwdriver, although composed of multiple complex shapes, is actually only modeled as one. Using the loft function, I was able to combine shapes into 3D lengths of each other. With only three circles of varying length, a modified star, a small rectangle, and a simple line, I was able to merge elements of all these 2D shapes into a 3D model. |
